Kia’s GT Concept Gets OK’d

Although the Kia GT Concept car was more of a novelty item a couple of years ago, it seems that a public outcry from consumers wanting the vehicle has changed the mind of the car company.  They have announced production and the New Kia halo car is expected to arrive in the United States in 2017.

This is one of the most futuristic, yet realistic cars you will lay your eyes on.  Most futuristic designs are almost laughable and look more like something you would see in a comic or a space movie.  Looking at this vehicle, you could actually see yourself driving this beauty.  It first turned heads at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.

Last week in Las Vegas, Kia shared their plans for the rear-wheel drive, mid-luxury car to be equipped with a V-6 engine with their U.S. dealers.  Just like the concept, the production version will be a four door fastback and like the upmarket Kia K900 luxury sedan, it is intended to attract new buyers to the brand with its futuristic design and upscale features.

The GT concept that was introduced in 2011 featured rear hinged suicide doors, but that feature is not expected to make it into a production version of the vehicle.  As of right now, the concept does not have a name but you can be sure they are working on coming out with one that will be identifiable with Luxury.

2014 Kia Forte: A Worthy Competitor

This offering is a stylish and roomier than expected four door car that’s longer and wider than its predecessor.  It also offers features not normally found in this car segment.  For example you can add heated seats for front and rear passengers, heated steering wheel, door handle lights and a telematics/communications system that can help you find a parked forte in a crowded area.

All New Soul is a Big Step Up

The Kia Soul is all new for 2014, entering its second generation after being introduced in 2009.  The 2014 Soul blends tasteful, but bold design with a functional comfortable interior and an affordable price tag.

Cadenza Tops Avalon on Consumer Reports List

It’s been a while since the well-known publication, Consumer Reports, tested and ranked the top large sedans on the market.  The last time they did the test was in 2007, and the Toyota Avalon was at the top of the list.

Since 2007 however, we’ve seen a shift in the automotive world.  Brands have changed their focus, and new vehicles have hit showroom floors.  Just in the large sedan segment newcomers like the Hyundai Azera and Kia Cadenza have made their way onto consumers shopping lists.

On Tuesday, Consumer Reports released their lists and the newcomer Azera and former champ Avalon found themselves staring at the tail end of the new for 2014, Kia Cadenza.

The Consumer Reports Magazine has been testing and analyzing consumer products since 1934 and has more than 8 million subscribers.  Jake Fisher, the director of automotive testing stated that “The Cadenza banishes any lingering thoughts that Kia is just a manufacturer of cheap, unrefined cars.  Pulling off that high score requires a long list of positives and very few faults.”

That’s certainly true, the brand has majorly shifted its focus and continues to make large leaps in manufacturing elegant, technologically rich, and reliable vehicles and doing so in an affordable fashion for the customer.

Capitol KIA Presents MotorTrend Champs Forte and Cadenza

Capitol KIA’s Service Team Enjoys Australian V8 Supercars

As a service team member at Capitol KIA in Austin, Texas, we get to see KIA’s latest technological advancements in its dependable carline every day.  But rarely do we get the chance to be so close to such raw power and innovative design as we were Sunday at the Australian V8 Supercars Championship race.  With the prediction of great weather for Sunday’s event, we decided to get out of the shop for a few hours and enjoy the sights and sounds of some high powered racing.

This past Sunday May 19th, round five of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) was held at the Circuit of Americas (COTA), Austin’s premier F-1 track.  The 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship series is an FIA-sanctioned motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It is the fifteenth running of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and the seventeenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. The series' calendar recently expanded, traveling to the United States for the first time for a race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Like a bull rider in a Texas rodeo, driver Mark Wilkins grabbed the reins of his No. 38 turbocharged Optima and rode it to a well-deserved and hard-fought second-place finish. The relentless Texas heat wreaked havoc on drivers and tires alike, making for an exciting day of race action.  After a late caution flag bunched up the field of 51 cars with less than 10 minutes to go, Wilkins managed to hold off Jack Baldwin’s hard-charging Porsche Cayman S to secure the second step on the winner’s podium.
